American clergyman and author, born in Freetown, MA, on the 30th of December 1822. He studied for the ministry, and became pastor of a Unitarian church in Roxbury, MA, in 1852; later he accepted pastorates at Boston, New York, Denver, Chicago and Portland; has written A Critical History of the Doctrine of a Future Life; Genius of Solitude; Friendships of Women; and other works of a similar nature.
