1886.  Berrow’s Worcester Jrnl., 2 Jan., 7/7. The weeping dentated poplar has a remarkable peculiarity. In May its young leaves, for three or four weeks, are of deep purplish red, offering a charming variety in ‘tree-scape,’ if such a word may be coined.
