This word is commonly pronounced Josh-away, perhaps in consequence of bad teaching in Sunday Schools. A curious parallel is found in the name of Nashua, New Hampshire; for the present writer remembers a railway conductor, in 1875, when the train stopped there, shouting out, “Nash-away! Nash-away!”
