[Virginia Frances].  American authoress, born in New Haven, CT, in 1836. She edited, for a time, Arthur’s Home Magazine, and has spent all her life in literary work. Among her books are Living and Loving (1859); Amy Deane (1862); Temptation and Triumph (1863); The Battlefields of Our Fathers (1864); Elizabeth Tudor, the Queen and Woman (1874); Lenox Dare (1881); and Our Presidents (1888). Many of her juvenile stories have been republished as the Breakwater Series.
