[or Taharqa, Taharqa].  King of Ethiopia who at first was united with Sleabataka, King of Egypt, against Sennacherib. He later killed Sleabataka, and ascended the throne himself as the last king of the twenty-fifth dynasty. He was born about 702 B.C., and, after being driven into Ethiopia by Esarhaddon and Ashurbanipal as a punishment for leaguing himself with the Judeans and other Syrians, he died about 664 B.C.
