American clergyman, born in Bainbridge, NY, on the 5th of March 1830. After his graduation from Yale in 1851 and four years spent in theological study, he entered the ministry of the Congregational Church and was stationed at Lawrence and elsewhere in Massachusetts until 1875, when he went to California. Returning to the East, he was chosen pastor at New Haven, CT. He published On the Threshold (1881); Lamps and Paths (1885); and other works.
