Journalist and author, born at Saint-Amand-Montrond, France. He was educated at the Seminary of Bourges and at Paris, and began in 1845 to write for newspapers. His contributions were of the nature of stories and conversations, and were mostly printed in the Gazette de Paris. He has been a voluminous writer, and among his larger works may be mentioned Voyage and Adventures around the World; The Enchantress; The Secret of Chamblis; and The Daughter of Cain.
