Distinguished American jurist, born in Lunenburg, MA, on the 22nd of June 1803; died on the 22nd of June 1856. He graduated at the Harvard Law School in 1826, and subsequently became clerk of the Massachusetts assembly, member of the legislature, judge of the court of common pleas, and reporter of the supreme court. He was an author of several important works, but chiefly is famed as the writer of Manual of Parliamentary Practice, known as Cushings Manual, and recognized for many years as the standard textbook on the subject.
