French publicist, born at Paris on the 5th of April 1798. In 1829 he founded the Revue de Paris, and from 1838 to 1852 was owner and director of the Constitutionnel, in which he published in Eugène Sue’s Wandering Jew. It was also during Véron’s direction and at his suggestion that Sainte-Beuve contributed the Causeries du lundi. From 1831–1835 he was director of the Paris Opera. In 1852 he was elected to the Corps Législatif as an official candidate. He was the author of various books, of which the best known is Mémoires d’un bourgeois de Paris (1853–1855). He died in Paris on the 27th of September 1867.
