German authoress, born in Rudolstadt on the 3rd of February 1763. Her maiden name was Karoline von Lengefeld, and Baron von Wolzogen was her second husband. The marriage of her sister Charlotte to Schiller brought Karoline into intimate friendship with the great poet. Her Schiller’s Leben (1830) is perhaps the best biography of Schiller. Among her other works are Agnes von Lilien (1798) and Cordelia (1840). She died in Jena on the 11th of January 1847.
