Dutch painter, born in The Hague on the 18th of February 1817. His artistic training was obtained in the studio of van Brée, where he turned his attention to architectural painting. His Views in the Church at Alkmaar and his Cathedral at Rotterdam are typical of his work. He won gold medals at the expositions of 1878 and 1889. He is a chevalier both of the Order of the Lion of the Netherlands and the Order of Leopold.
