George Ross (1730–1779)

Signer of the Declaration of Independence, born at Newcastle, DE, in 1730. He became a lawyer, and was chosen to the Pennsylvania Legislature in 1768. While still holding this position he was chosen to the First Continental Congress in 1774. He retired from Congress in 1777, and in April 1779 was made a judge of the Pennsylvania court of admiralty, but died in July.
