[George Henry].  American soldier, born in Charlestown, MA, on the 19th of July 1823; graduated at West Point in 1846, and was wounded at Cerro Gordo, in the Mexican War. He resigned to practice law, but in 1861 re-entered the service, fought at the second battle of Bull Run, commanded a brigade at Antietam, took part in the operations against Mobile, and was brevetted major-general of volunteers. He wrote a History of the Second Massachusetts Regiment of Infantry (1875); History of the Campaign of the Army of Virginia under John Pope from Cedar Mountain to Alexandria (1879); A War Diary of Events in the War of the Great Rebellion (1882); and Brook Farm to Cedar Mountain (1883). He died in 1886.
