[Sir Frederick William].  Canadian statesman, born at Cornwallis, NS, on the 14th of May 1847. He was educated at King’s College, Windsor, and at Harvard University, and for some years practised medicine at Canning, NS. In 1874 he was elected to the Canadian parliament as Liberal member for King’s county. In 1896 he became minister of militia and defence in the Liberal ministry. He failed to secure re-election to the Dominion Parliament in 1911 and retired from politics. He had been created K.C.M.G. in 1902 on the occasion of the coronation of Edward VII. He died at Toronto on the 6th of January 1917.
