[or Frederic]. American portrait painter, born at Bangor, ME, on the 29th of January 1846. He was a pupil of Duveneck, of William M. Hunt in Boston, of Léon Bonnat and Jean Paul Laurens in Paris, and of the Royal Academy of Munich. In 1891 he was elected a full member of the National Academy of Design, New York. He died in Boston, MA, on the 19th of May 1911.
