American poet; born in Peekskill, NY, on the 6th of May 1860. He was educated at Columbia College and Harvard; was fellow in Columbia in 1887, and later instructor in the Columbia School of Architecture. He published Madrigals and Catches (1887); Lyrics for a Lute (1890); Little Folk’s Lyrics (1892); and, with John Kendrick Bangs, New Waggings of Old Tales (1888). His poetry is particularly characterized by delicacy and metrical facility.
