Italian Protestant martyr, who, being arrested at Bagna Cavallo, in 1548, for preaching a reformed religion and liberty of conscience, was visited in prison by many distinguished Italians, who were attracted by his fervor and piety, and interested themselves in his behalf. But as he absolutely refused to recant, Pope Julius III. condemned him to the stake. He was strangled and his body burned in 1550.
