[Abadiano].  Mexican poet and Jesuit, born near Jiquilpan, Mexico, on the 1st of July 1727, was rector of the college of Queretaro, where he studied and practiced medicine. Later he went to Italy, where he published a volume of heroic verses concerning God, in Latin, to which his fame is principally due. It was in cantos and went through several editions. He also wrote a book describing the principal rivers of the world. He died in Barcelona, Spain, on the 30th of September 1779.
