American humorous versifier, born at Dorchester, MA, on the 21st of April 1842. While serving in the Thirteenth Massachusetts Infantry in the Civil War, he was wounded and taken prisoner at Gettysburg. He published Leedle Yawcob Strauss and Other Poems (1878). He contributed much humorous dialect verse to periodicals.
