American historical writer, born in Biddeford, ME, on the 10th of November 1813; died in Cambridge, MA, on the 13th of November 1889. He was educated at Thornton Academy, Saco, ME, and became a merchant in Boston. After 1864 he resided in Cambridge, having retired from business, and wrote a number of valuable historical papers. Among these works may be mentioned First Plymouth Patent (1854); Bibliography of Governor Hutchinson’s Publications (1857); and Remarks on Sebastian Cabot’s Mapple Monde (1867).
