American historian, born in Richmond, VA, on the 8th of June 1799. He contributed largely to magazines, and published Biographia Americana (1825); Memoirs of Eminent Female Writers (1827); Historical Annals of North America (1861); and other works. He died in New York City on the 30th of May 1877.
