[Rohlfs].  American author, born in Brooklyn, NY, on the 11th of November 1846. She graduated at the Ripley Female College, Poultney, VT, in 1867; in 1884 married Charles Rohlfs, and afterward moved to Buffalo, NY. Her first novel, a detective story, entitled The Leavenworth Case, appeared in 1878, and had a very large sale. After that she published others of the same sort, among which are The Sword of Damocles (1881); Hand and Ring (1883); a drama, Risifi’s Daughter (1887); and a volume of verse.
