1834. H. M’Murtrie, Cuvier’s Anim. Kingd., 197. Some of the species, such as the King-fisher (an Umbrina), inhabit the American seas.
1840. trans. Cuvier’s Anim. Kingd., 296. Some of them are silvery, and attain the size of an Umbrina.
