Glove-making. [? ad. F. tranche a cutting.] An oblong piece of kid or other skin from which a glove is to be cut out; also, a glove-shape cut from this, before being sewn.
1862. Mrs. H. Wood, Mrs. Hallib., I. xxvi. The cutters cut the skins into tranks (the shape of the hand in outline) with the separate thumbs and forgits [= side-pieces of fingers].
