[Native name in Mishmi.] A horned ruminant (Budorcas taxicolor) of southeastern Tibet on the northern frontier of Assam.

1909. Daily Chron., 23 June, 5/5. The Zoological Society has just received a fine young example of the takin, which, next to the okapi, is the rarest and least known of the ruminants . Takins are heavily built and powerful animals, an adult male standing three and a half feet high at the shoulder.
