1885. [Horner], Pattern Making, 153. A level bed would be made on the sand, the frame laid upon it, and the sand rammed round flush with its top edge, and strickled-off level. Ibid. The curb ring facing, boss, and bed are strickled in the bottom by a board working round a core-bar. Ibid., 154. The sand within the frame is strickled over level with its upper face. Ibid.
