sb. pl. Zool. [mod. L. neut. pl. of *bimanus two-handed (sc. animalia), the latinized form of Buffon’s bimane, f. L. bi- two + manus hand.] Two-handed animals: Cuvier’s name for the highest order of Mammalia, of which man is the type and only species.
