A species of Kangaroo rat, a nocturnal animal about the size of a hare.
1839. Penny Cycl., XIV. 462/1. Mr. Ogilby describes (Zool. Proc. 1831) a fourth species, Hypsiprymnus setosus, known in the colony of New South Wales by the native name of Bettong Kangaroo.
