1806. Neill, Tour Orkney & Shetl., 93. They have abundance of what are called culleocks and smurlins. The smurlin or smuthlin is the Mya truncata, remarkable for a shrivelled leathery process at one end. Both these shell-fish are highly relished by the Shetlanders.
