1861.  Ramsay, Remin., Ser. II. p. xxix. I recollect asking an old man who was complaining of his fare, why he did not eat his loaf which was on the table. ‘I can ’t eatun, zur; it be soa vinny.’ I discovered that he meant ‘mouldy’; and I found from Rask, ‘vinny’ to be a pure Anglo-Saxon word.
