[f. Gr. ἔριον wool + μέτρον measure.] An instrument for measuring by optical means the diameter of small fibers, such as wool, cotton or flax.
1829. Nat. Philos., Optics, xv. 27 (Usef. Knowl. Soc.). By means of an instrument which he [? Dr. Young] calls an Eriometer, he was enabled to measure the size of minute particles or fibres.
