Min. Also elao-. [f. Gr. ἔλαι-ον oil, olive oil + -LITE.] A variety of nephelite occurring massive, or in large crystals, and having a greasy luster.
1816. R. Jameson, Char. Min., II. 43. It is named Elaolite on account of its resinous lustre.

1877. Watts, Dict. Chem., IV. 30. Before the blow-pipe, nephelin melts with difficulty to a vesicular glass; elæolite easily.
