a. [ad. med.L. cursālis, f. cursus course: see -AL.] Of or belonging to a course; applied to certain canons of St. Asaphs and prebendaries of St. Davids Cathedral in Wales.
According to some, because originally their prebends were annually changed by course or rotation: Jones & Freeman, Hist. St. Davids, 313. Others would refer it to the Cursus, officium Ecclesiasticum, seu series Orationum, Psalmorum, Hymnorum, et cæterarum precationum, quæ quotidie in Ecclesia decantatur (Du Cange).
