(a.) sb. Med. [a. Fr. agrypnotique, f. Gr. ἄγρυπνος wakeful. In imitation of hypnotic, Gr. ὑπνωτικός, f. ὑπνώσσ-ειν; but ἀγρυπνητικός wakeful, gives agrypnetic.] Anything administered to produce wakefulness.
1879. Syd. Soc. Lex., s.v., Coffee, tea and the electric bath, are reckoned among the most effectual agrypnotics.
