1731.  Bailey, vol. II., Affray, Affraiment (in Common Law) is an affrightment put upon one or more persons; which may be done by an open shew of violence only, without either a blow given or a word spoken, etc. [The definition is quoted from Phillips with the addition of Affraiment by Bailey himself.]
