Path. [mod.L., a. Gr. κολόβωμα the part removed in mutilation, f. κολοβός curtailed.] A malformation or mutilation of an organ; spec. a defect in the iris of the eye, due to imperfect closure of the choroidal fissure.
1843. trans. J. Müllers Elem. Phys., II. 1631. The Coloboma seems to arise from the imperfect development of the iris in the situation of the fissure of the choroid.
