a. Chem. [f. L. chelīdonium, a. Gr. χελῑδόνίον the plant CELANDINE or Swallow-wort + -IC.] In Chelidonic acid, C7 H4 O6, obtained from the juice of the Greater Celandine. Its salts are Chelidonates, which are very numerous. Chelidonine, an alkaloid contained in all parts of the same plant. Chelidoninic, epithet of another acid obtained from Celandine. Chelidonanthin, a yellow very bitter substance contained in the juice of Celandine.
