Zool. [L. cercopithēcus, a. Gr. κερκοπίθηκος a long-tailed monkey, f. κέρκος tail + πίθηκος ape.] A genus of long-tailed monkeys found in Africa, having cheek-pouches, and callosities on the buttocks. Hence Cercopithecoid a., akin to this genus.
